Silver Plated baby spoon?
I was recently given a beautiful antique baby spoon, made by WInthrop silver and Gerber (it has the Gerber baby on the handle)
It says Winthrop silver plate on the back.
Is this real silver at all?
Can I feed my baby with it? It isn't tarnished or anything, and I washed it with gentle soap by hand, but so far I have been nervous to feed him with it.
I should mention that it is the baby spoon that my great grandmother used for my grandmother.
I would never sell it.
I only said that it was a family thing because that guy was like, "sell it"
Use it. It's a lot safer than plastic (chemical wise). It won't hurt your baby's gums etc. My Nanna gave me two silver baby spoons that she used for her 3 children (aged between 46 and 60) and I happily used them for my son.
