Weaning my son from breast to beaker/cup 7 months old?
my son is 7 months old he is eating solids now. I will be returning to work in a few months and will need my son to start drinkin milk from beaker so i can drop some and eventually most day feeds. He will take milk/water from beaker but i am unsure where to start weaning him off the breast? He is having :
8 am wake up milk/breast
9 am breakfast
11 am Milk/breast
1pm lunch with water
3pm milk/breast
5pm tea with water
7.30 milk/breast
he also wakes in the night still 2 or 3 times for milk but i am convinced this is habit and or comfort feed. i am pooped!

He will still need formula milk until he is 12 months old so you could go from breastfeeding to bottle for a while (which is what I did when I went back to work). This way you are making the transition from breast milk but not withdrawing the comfort of suckling all in one go.
I used to breastfeed morning and evening with my daughter and maybe once in the night, she was 8 months old then. My health visitor told me she didn't need the night "feed" any more that is was just a nice habit and I should consider stopping it. We had one night of tears when I refused to feed her and gave her water in a bottle and she never woke for a night feed again. I missed the breast feeding more than she did I think. 2-3 times per night is too much at this age, he really should be sleeping through
When you wake up at 8am just give him breakfast with a bottle of milk, this doesn't have to be immediately you wake up, he has to adapt to your working schedule so if 8.30am suits you then that is breakfast time. In a couple of weeks introduce a beaker instead of the bottle and see how it goes. He can have diluted orange/apple juice as well as plain water, its a little more exciting taste wise.
