What the Hell goes on a relish tray?
Have to bring a relish tray to xmas dinner is it just pickles or veggies too? did they ask me to bring this cuz I am a terrible cook? does anyone actually eat off the relish tray or does it just look good on a table? do I need a special tray?

Divided glass dishes somewhere between 9" and 12" in diameter are appropriate for "relish trays"...
In formal settings, they should include any number of "pickled" things, but no fresh veggies. Spiced apple rings, pickles, Pickled peppers, spiced pickled pears, pickled mushrooms, etc....
It can be done rather nicely, and can be as simple or extravagant as you wish. The tray must be divided, however, and the items well drained to avoid mixing of flavours.
If it is appealing enough, yes, people will eat off of it.
If you are new to the group, it is not an insult, as women tend to get "territorial" over what they like to make, and each one has their favourites which they will not give up. Usually, it is best to bring an additional item, like a dessert, to show them that you can actually cook as well. Is there a dessert that you are particularly good at making?? Bring that as well as the "relish tray".
