Is this penny rare?It is a silver penny with a wheat back.?
Just wondering if it is rare.
If it is a 1943 then it is zinc coated steel. As was already said they were issued in that year for they thought they would need the copper for the war effort. They found they were okay and went back to the normal cent in 1944. if it is another date then it was Silver Plated by a science class or as a project by some one out side the mint. Values for the 1943 were already given but they can also be found for .05 cents or less in a coin dealers wheat cent box. the others are just a novelty and have no collector value. Hope this helps.
